Mission Statement
Affordable Homes of South Texas, Inc. is a community based non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life by providing affordable housing and related services to eligible families.
We started in 1976 with rehabbing homes to improve living conditions in the city of McAllen. Soon after, we expanded our services and service area.
Now we rehab homes AND build and finance them as well! We have subdivisions in 10 different cities across the Rio Grande Valley with more to come!
We also help to prepare you! Our HUD Certified counselors work with you to get you ready to buy a home.
And when you close on your home, you still stay part of our family as you make your payments with us.

We are committed to building the way home together with our customers. We work collaboratively to establish a strong foundation, ensuring that they not only achieve their dream of homeownership but also acquire the knowledge and tools to thrive as successful homeowners in the journey ahead.
Community
We are dedicated to uplifting a community situated in some of the nation's most economically challenged counties. With a significant portion of our working class experiencing underemployment and stagnant wages in the face of rising living costs, our programs and services play a crucial role. By engaging with us, our community gains access to resources that enable them to build wealth across generations and ultimately break free from the cycle of poverty.
Purpose
Our core purpose is to provide the opportunity of affordable homeownership to those who find themselves excluded from conventional financing options. We recognize the diverse circumstances of individuals, understanding that many do not conform to standard criteria and consequently may feel disheartened about the prospect of owning a home. It is in these moments that we step forward as a beacon of hope, illuminating the path that demonstrates the possibility of achieving successful homeownership through alternative routes.
